The Church Structure Before
The First African Church Mission (St David’s Parish) was the first church in the village, Poka in Epe Local Government (Now Eredo Local Council Development Area) of Lagos State, Nigeria. The standing structure was built back to 44 years with the efforts of the prominent indigenes and the poor congregations. The maintenance had ever since been jointly financed by both Christians and Muslims in the village. This is the strength of the love that exist in the Poka Community
The Church Structure Now
Luckily, the current Lagos State administration has commenced massive infrastructural development in Epe Division of the State, which has its social costs. About 75% of the Church premises has been consumed by the ongoing road construction project. The only standing building (of the Church Structures housing the vicarage, hall and auditorium) is the partially consumed church main auditorium which is not habitable as it is. The need to rebuild the church auditorium is now inevitable.
The Church Structure Proposed
Wondering what will become of the oldest church in the village, it became obvious that a new structure have to be erected at the same spot. Unfortunately, the space left was not enough to build even the church auditorium, talk less of the vicarage and the church hall. To retain the historical location for at least the main church auditorium at the historical spot, the available adjoining space had to be acquired at an extra cost. The proposed new church structure is estimated at N250,000,000.00 (Two hundred and fifty million naira only). This sum is massive for the low-income parishioners. Hence this call to MACEDONIA to transform the church. The spirit of communal effort is our only hope to achieve this gigantic project. No amount is too small to achieve this goal.
